The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc has again called on customers not to gratify anybody in order to be metered.

Similarly, account openings are also free and as such customers need not pay for new account openings. A press release signed by the Head Corporate Communications, Dr Friday Adakole Elijah called on customers to report anybody or staff demanding for gratification of any sorts for the installation of meters to the Regional Managers or the corporate headquarters of the company in Jos for appropriate action.

He also charged customers not to give out a fadem to staff who might be cajoling them to part with their money for the purpose of opening new accounts or separation of accounts for them. Dr Elijah said said any staff caught demanding for gratification from customers or extorting them would be subjected to serious disciplinary actions.

The press release further directed that on no account should customers accounts be closed and new ones opened stressing that any staff caught closing old accounts and opening new ones for same customers would be severely disciplined. He urged customers not to panic as according to him, there were adequate meters that could go round the entire customers of the company.

Dr. Elijah therefore urged customers to remain in their respective homes and wait for the meters.

JEDC And Unions Give Approval To Staff Terms Of Employment

The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc in conjunction with the two in-house unions, the National Union of Electricity Employees and Senior Staff of Electricity and Allied Matters have signed the revised conditions of service. In a statement made to newsmen on Thursday by the Head Corporate Communication, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah noted that during the signing ceremony, the Managing Director, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed said that the revised edition was timely haven been in existence since 2018. According to him, “A document of such sensitive nature and importance being operational for more than four years would require review to ensure it portrays a true reflection of current realities as it bothers on employees engagement, conducts, welfare, career and capacity development as well as the responsibility of the company to its employees “. Engr Mohammed extolled the harmonious relationship between the management and unions and also disclosed that the revised version of the condition of service was necessitated by the fact that it would be utilized to better the course and career of employees and by extension the company. He said that the management under his leadership runs an open-door policy stressing that he was open to constructive advice from all and sundry. He called on staff to endeavour to put in their best by ensuring that Jos Electricity Distribution Plc gets to the zenith of collection efficiency. “These revised conditions of service should reaffirm our commitment to enhancing our cooperation for an excellent and harmonious working environment that will guarantee industrial peace”, he contended. The Managing Director promised that the company would honour the entire spirit and soul of the new conditions of service. In their separate remarks, the National Presidents of NUEE and SSAEC, Engr Martin Nzeogwu and Engr Chika Ben commended the Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed for creating a u working environment for the staff. In their words, “You have created an impression that you are going to achieve what other MDs before you could not achieve by your commitment to the condition of service”. They urged him to keep up with the good work that he has been doing since coming on board stressing that the union would continue to give him all the necessary support that would enhance the growth of the electricity outfit. Present at the signing ceremony were members of the Executive management of the company as well as the Vice Presidents of the two in-house unions Comrades Mathew Ojochide Agbata and Abubakar Umar. Others were Mshelinga Sikanta, Naallah Adamu Yawuri, Ibrahim Umar Doggi, Sim Debora Magaji, Dalhatu Magaji, and Sarah Bidee amongst other personalities.
