Jos DISCO Fraternizes With Unions, Appreciates Staff

The Managing Director, Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed, has called for the support of the two in-house unions to enable the company to succeed in its quest for revenue growth in a press statement made available to journalists on Tuesday morning and signed by Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah, Head, Corporate Communications.

Engr Mohammed also commended the staff of the company for embracing the new reforms which he said were already manifesting in the company’s revenue generation.

JEDC And Unions Give Approval To Staff Terms Of Employment

The Management of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc in conjunction with the two in-house unions, the National Union of Electricity Employees and Senior Staff of Electricity and Allied Matters have signed the revised conditions of service. In a statement made to newsmen on Thursday by the Head Corporate Communication, Dr. Friday Adakole Elijah noted that during the signing ceremony, the Managing Director, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed said that the revised edition was timely haven been in existence since 2018. According to him, “A document of such sensitive nature and importance being operational for more than four years would require review to ensure it portrays a true reflection of current realities as it bothers on employees engagement, conducts, welfare, career and capacity development as well as the responsibility of the company to its employees “. Engr Mohammed extolled the harmonious relationship between the management and unions and also disclosed that the revised version of the condition of service was necessitated by the fact that it would be utilized to better the course and career of employees and by extension the company. He said that the management under his leadership runs an open-door policy stressing that he was open to constructive advice from all and sundry. He called on staff to endeavour to put in their best by ensuring that Jos Electricity Distribution Plc gets to the zenith of collection efficiency. “These revised conditions of service should reaffirm our commitment to enhancing our cooperation for an excellent and harmonious working environment that will guarantee industrial peace”, he contended. The Managing Director promised that the company would honour the entire spirit and soul of the new conditions of service. In their separate remarks, the National Presidents of NUEE and SSAEC, Engr Martin Nzeogwu and Engr Chika Ben commended the Managing Director of Jos Electricity Distribution Plc, Engr Abdu Bello Mohammed for creating a u working environment for the staff. In their words, “You have created an impression that you are going to achieve what other MDs before you could not achieve by your commitment to the condition of service”. They urged him to keep up with the good work that he has been doing since coming on board stressing that the union would continue to give him all the necessary support that would enhance the growth of the electricity outfit. Present at the signing ceremony were members of the Executive management of the company as well as the Vice Presidents of the two in-house unions Comrades Mathew Ojochide Agbata and Abubakar Umar. Others were Mshelinga Sikanta, Naallah Adamu Yawuri, Ibrahim Umar Doggi, Sim Debora Magaji, Dalhatu Magaji, and Sarah Bidee amongst other personalities.

JEDC, Unions Endorse The Conditions Of Service For Staff

To improve the capacity, and commitment of its staff for effective service delivery, the Managing Director of the Jos Electricity Distribution Company (JED), Engr. Abdu Mohammed has signed into the company’s by-law a condition of service that will boost staff welfare, better deal for employees, and capacity development for its teeming staff. The company’s responsibility to its employees also tops the priority of the new improved by-law, a stance the Managing Director of the Company said will no longer be swept under the carpet. Two pressure groups present at the signing of the new condition of service tagged: “Revised Condition of Service”, were the National Union of Electricity Employees and Senior Staff of Electricity and Allied Matters. The group lauded the energy boss, Mohammed, for demonstrating a commitment to better working conditions of the company”s staff, envisaging that he will surpass his predecessors with the full implementation of the new deal. The National Presidents of the two groups, Engr. Martin Nzeogwu and Engr. Chika Ben who spoke on behalf of the unions added that a harmonious working environment for staff has been created. Communicating the same to our correspondent in a statement for dissemination, Spokesman for the Company and Head Corporate Communications, Dr. Friday Elijah said the new condition of service has been in existence since 2018 but has suffered audacity of implementation. Elijah said the new condition of service is indeed timely and will in no doubt improve efficient service delivery.
